Dufresne & Associates provides client-oriented engineering services, specializing in water and wastewater projects. The September 1999 acquisition of Wayne D. Lawrence Consulting Engineers and Surveyors, a firm in Barre, Vermont, expanded the staff and added a second Vermont location.

 

 

Robert E. Dufresne, P.E.
President

Robert Dufresne holds a BS in Civil Engineering, received summa cum laude from Norwich University, and a MS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Wisconsin. He is a registered professional engineer in Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Wisconsin and has worked on extensive water and wastewater projects throughout New England during his 24 year career. Mr. Dufresne specializes in water treatment systems, water system planning and analysis and water treatment pilot investigations. He conducts operator's training for the Filtration, Disinfection, and Jar Testing sessions of the Vermont Operator Certification program, serves on the Engineering Liason Committee and is the current chairman of the American Consulting Engineering Council, VT Chapter.


Naomi R. Johnson, P.E.
Vice President

Naomi Johnson' education includes a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Vermont in Civil Engineering and an Environmental Engineering Master's Degree, received from Montana State University. Ms. Johnson has a broad range of engineering experience, including onsite wastewater treatment system design as a certified site evaluator, water distribution system computerized analysis, advanced membrane filtration systems and geographic information systems (GIS) software applications. She is currently developing GIS mapping and database systems utilizing ArcView and autocad programs to provide municipalities the ability to obtain community information for planning, management and emergency handling.

 

Roger A. Ward
Senior Project Manager

Roger Ward oversees the construction management services provided by Dufresne & Associates. Mr. Ward has served as resident project representative/manager on a variety of water and wastewater projects for over 16 years. In addition to contributing to design and construction projects, Mr. Ward develops and maintains computer models for numerous water systems in the New England area. He also serves on several New England Water Works Association equipment standards committees.

 

John Perry, PE
Senior Project Engineer
John Perry as Senior Project Manager heads our Mechanical Engineering Department.  John has more than twenty years' of experience in planning and design of process piping, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing and instrumentation/control systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities, commercial buildings, industrial plants and educational facilities.  John received his BS in Civil Engineering in 1977 from the University of Vermont.
 

 

Richard W. Bell, L.S. joined Dufresne & Associates, PC Consulting Engineers as Chief of Survey for the firm. Bell will be in charge of all Land Surveying operations including; boundary surveys, topographic surveys, professional witness in boundary disputes, and construction staking and control. Mr. Bell brings 32 years of experience in the surveying field. He received his associate’s degree in Surveying from Vermont Technical College and served 3 years with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  Rick will be located at the Barre office of D&A which operates as Wayne D. Lawrence Engineers and Surveyors but will be providing survey services to all D&A Vermont clients from D&A offices in Barre, Windsor and South Burlington.

 

Randall N. Goodwin
Senior Field Engineer

Randy Goodwin received his Associates degree from Vermont Technical College in Architecture & Building Engineering Technology in 1988.  Mr. Goodwin has been with Dufresne & Associates since May of 2000.  He has 15 years of construction and inspection experience.  Mr. Goodwin has been crucial to many projects throughout his time at D&A, some of which include the Lyn Haven Water System, the Pierce Road Tank Project in Barre, the Water System Upgrade for Saint Johnsbury Center.

 

Timothy Knapp, EI
Tech Engineer

Timothy Knapp attended the University of Vermont and graduated with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering in 2004.  Tim has been a resident project representative on several water and sewer construction projects since his start at D&A in 2005.  Tim’s experience also includes on-site wastewater evaluations, as well as surveying.  Mr. Knapp aids in the development and maintenance of water system models for numerous towns in Vermont and New Hampshire.  Tim has a broad range of experience with technical engineering software such as AutoCad Land Desktop, AutoCad Civil 3d, AutoCad Building Systems, ArcGIS, and WaterGems.
