WATER AND WASTEWATER MASTER PLAN
BERLIN, VERMONT

Study Area
The Town of Berlin maintains a wastewater
collection system and numerous pump stations that convey
wastewater to Montpelier for treatment. Water supply needs are met by
individually owned wells and several small public water systems.
The Master Plan was the first comprehensive document that addressed water system
and wastewater system long term planning for the Town of Berlin. The document
evaluated current and projected water supply and
wastewater disposal needs in the designated growth areas within the Town of
Berlin.
The Town of Berlin Selectboard and Sewer Commission members considered the
results of the project “the best report the Town of Berlin has ever received”
and rely on the document as a planning tool in the development of a
municipal water system and the extension of the sewer service area.
Key Features
- GIS project compiled sewer collection system, small public water systems and base mapping data.
- Phasing recommendations for water supply connections to adjacent the municipalities, Barre and Montpelier.
- Capital improvements program recommendations for extensions of the wastewater collection system.
